Come along with us to a Story Stomper session at Brockwell Park Greenhouses
We attended a session of Story Stompers at Brockwell Park Greenhouses today and it was FUN from the absolute start! The session was run by Molly, starting off with a Hello song, introducing everyone to each other while playing musical instruments. The children, armed with tambourines, drums, and maracas, brought a vibrant energy to an otherwise cloudy day.
Guided by Molly, the children roamed through the outside space, full of yellows and oranges, discovering the diverse array of plants and fallen leaves. Molly encouraged them to touch, observe, and engage with the greenery, finding materials that they could use in their next activity…
Once they had gathered enough leaves and sticks, they returned to the warmth of the greenhouse where Molly gave everyone cut-out bird shapes, which the children adorned with their natural materials, bringing their bird to life. Many were proud of their creations, comparing and showing off to each other their different designs.
Once everyone was finished, they all came together and sat quietly, waiting for the storytelling to start. The children listened to Molly's engaging storytelling of “And the Good Brown Earth” by Kathy Henderson.
As the story reached the end, the session wrapped up with a heartwarming Goodbye Song. The musical instruments were played one again, marking the end of a session filled with laughter, creative expression, and shared imagination.
The Story Stomper session at Brockwell Greenhouse showcased the delightful merge of storytelling, creativity, and a connection to nature. Through music, exploration, and hands-on crafting, Molly and the children created a memorable experience that celebrated joy, curiosity, and the small treasures found in the natural world.
